"Yafo Tel Aviv" - Haim Cohen's New Restaurant

Anyone who’s ever watched Chef Haim Cohen on television has felt that they’re actually sitting down with the chef in his kitchen as he cooks. He’s just such a nice guy and makes his viewers feel like a guest.

Tomorrow, Cohen opens his new restaurant – "Yafo Tel Aviv". In an interview with the “City Mouse” magazine Cohen explained that his first instinct was to cook the food from “Keren”, the restaurant that put him on Israel’s culinary radar. In the end he concluded that there was no point in trying to break away from who he was but his main goal was and always has been to use the best raw materials. He says that his cooking is clean and simple and that he’s going for the best such as creamy Burrata cheese (rustic style mozzarella) that is imported from southern Italy and must be eaten within 24 hrs.

On his television show Cohen often times refers to his mother’s cooking and family favorites. The menu will include some of mom’s dishes such as fish kebabs and Sigal Cohen’s (Mrs. Haim Cohen) favorite salad of greens with celery and kohlrabi.

Haim Cohen will be happy if his customers don’t feel like customers but guests in his home sitting in his kitchen.

Yafo Tel Aviv opens tomorrow the 21st of November and will start with dinner only. Stay tuned for more.
